Guidelines for presenters

Guidelines for contributed talks

All contributed talks will take place approximately between the hours of 1 - 6 PM on Friday and Saturday, and beginning 10 AM on Sunday. Presenters will have 15 minutes for oral presentations, which includes 12 minutes for the presentation and 3 minutes for questions. Session chairs will interrupt any presentation exceeding 15 minutes in order to remain on schedule.

All presentations should be in Microsoft PowerPoint format. Digital projectors and microphones will be available for all presentations. If you wish to use slides or overheads for your presentation, please contact the WSN secretariat at: secretariat@wsn-online.org so that we can be prepared with the proper equipment.

Presenters should bring their presentations to the WSN meeting on a CD or jump drive (strongly preferred). Laptop computers (PC) for each session will be available for uploading presentations at the registration desk. Invited speakers should be ready to load their presentations at 7:30 a.m. in the room in which the symposium will be held. Contributed paper presenters should be loaded onto laptops beginning 12:00 noon and no later than 12:45 PM on Friday and Saturday, and no later than 9:45 on Sunday of the day of your talk. Any presenters who have not uploaded their presentation by that time may not be included in their scheduled session

Presenters are strongly encouraged to preview their presentations on a PC before coming to the meeting. Note that presentations created on a Macintosh computer may appear differently on a PC. If your presentation includes video, you must load both the presentation and the video file onto the laptop used in your session.

NOTE FOR MAC USERS: If you have created your presentation on a Mac, please make sure that all images have been imported as images, rather than cut and pasted into powerpoint. The latter method will result in missing images when projected from a PC.

Guidelines for contributed posters

The WSN poster session will commence on Friday at 7 PM in the Pinnacle Ballroom of the Marriott Pinnacle, and will take place in conjunction with the Attitude Adjustment Hour. Poster presenters should be ready to put up their posters at 6 PM.

Posters MUST fit within a 45 inch x 45 inch space. Posters will be hung on the walls of the Pinnacle Ballroom, and must be hung with VELCRO TAPE. Please note that the hotel will not permit posters to be hung by other means. We will have a small emergency supply of Velcro tape at the meeting, but poster presenters should plan on bringing enough velcro tape to hang their posters. One source for Velcro Tape is Amazon, who will give WSN a small percentage.

Presenters are responsible for placing their own posters and for taking them down by the end of the Attitude Adjustment Hour.

Presenters also are requested to stand by their posters to answer questions from 7 – 9 PM. Judging for best student poster will take place throughout that 2 hour period, and questions addressed to presenters constitute one of the criteria on which student posters are judged.
